Until about 15 years ago, the sport was centred in Europe and North America, but the Middle East, Asia, Russia and South America have made their presence felt in the last few years. This is one of the reasons why the demand for horses – jumpers in particular – has continued to rise. At the same time, the conception rates in the major breeding countries of Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and France are trending downward. This translates into a lower foal supply in the future. Against the background of rising demand, lower supply means high prices for developed, proven jumpers. Successful investors bought their foals at the ESI auction and sell them profitable after the completion of their development phase. Many of these horses and their owners have become highly visible and successful in the sport. Gleichzeitig waren die Bedeckungszahlen in den großen Zuchtländern Deutschland, Nieder- lande, Belgien und Frankreich rückläufig und somit ein geringes Angebot für die Zukunft. Durch die steigene Nachfrage ist das Preisniveau für das vielversprechende Springpferd stetig gestiegen. Erfolgreiche Investoren haben Ihre Pferde auf der ESI Auktion gekauft und sie nach fortge- setzter Ausbildung wieder Gewinn bringend verkauft. Viele ehemalige AUktionskandidaten sind mit ihren Besitzern erfolgreich im Sport zu sehen.
